I really think this is where the Cardinals lack vision with regards to looking at Puig as our everyday RF. Normally I would say you don’t roll the dice with a player like Puig, especially if you need him to be a SUPERSTAR in your lineup. But, what we need is a complement player that plays like or at least thinks he is a SUPERSTAR. He would be, at best, our 4th or 5th best player and a huge upgrade to our current outfield. I for one would like to see how he plays in a protected lineup like ours and really no pressure except to just go play and have fun. Compared to the flyer we gave someone like Fowler, where we signed him like he was a top 2 player in the MLB, Puig could come in and succeed while really making us a legitimate contender right now. How can we not see that we are just a complement player or 2 away from really being good and this move wouldn’t be for May, June, July, it will be for October on when we need some juice in the lineup (see 2020 San Diego as exhibit 1). Bader, O’Neil and even Carlson are NOT that kind of juice needed for the playoffs, at least yet.
